Sonata
in One Movement (1985
/rev. 2005)
for piano, 6'30"
The Sonata in One Movement was written in 1985, but did not take its final form until one year later.
In an attempt to give the sonata a unified harmony with a systematic foundation, I used the same models which Olivier Messiaen listed in his book Technique de mon langage musical. Although these scales differ completely from the traditional major-minor scales, they nevertheless exhibit a regular intervallic construction which makes it possible to derive varied and yet recognizably similar melodies and chords from them.
